Calabar Ladies’ secretary, Dan relishes eight years of golfing experience The Guardian Nigeria News

Gladness Dan, the secretary of the Ladies Section of the Calabar Golf Club, cannot stop talking about the health benefits she has derived from playing the game for the past eight years. She also has lofty plans to lift the ladies section.

The 25 handicapper told The Guardian after featuring at the recently concluded First Ladies Open Golf Championship of SB Abubakar Golf Club, Port Harcourt, that the game has played a tremendous part in keeping her fit and trim.

She expressed her willingness to collaborate with the executives of Calabar Golf Club to turn things around at the Ladies Section, including starting an awareness drive to increase the number of women in the club.

Dan described golfers as very hospitable people, adding: “Golf provides me with an opportunity to meet new friends and also relax after the hustle and bustle of each day. Playing a round of golf is like relaxing my mind. I forget about the difficult world out there.”

Gladness described her experience at the Ladies Open Golf Championship of SB Abubakar Golf Club as challenging, because of the size of the golf course, which is nine holes that has to be played twice.

“The course of SB Abubakar Golf Club is small and very challenging; your hands have to be straight for you to be on the fairway, but I believe golf is always a work in progress no matter how good you are.

“The goal is to create very sound repeatable routines and golf movements that are unique to you and make you robust under pressure. All golf courses are unique in their own ways,” she added.
