Patriots vs. Giants score: Live updates, TV channel, streaming info, odds for preseason opener in Foxborough

In their first preseason action of the 2022 NFL season, the New York Giants lead the New England Patriots 10-7 at halftime.

New York got the scoring started on the opening possession of the game, as Daniel Jones and the first-team offense marched down the field with a 13-play, 68-yard drive. However, that drive stalled out in scoring territory as Kenny Golladay dropped a pass inside the 5-yard line and the Giants had to settle for a field goal. Saquon Barkley was heavily involved in the game plan, with four carries as well as a reception. Gary Brightwell got most of the second-team work behind Barkley. The highlight play of the half came from Richie James, who snagged the ball out of the air and pulled it down for a gain of 26 yards after it was deflected on a throw from Tyrod Taylor over the middle. James added a touchdown grab on a toss from Taylor later in the drive.

New England’s touchdown came courtesy of rookie wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, who snuck along the back line of the end zone for a 2-yard pass from Brian Hoyer that gave the Patriots a lead. Thornton would later add another reception on a checkdown from fellow rookie Bailey Zappe. Once the Giants’ second-team offense entered the game in the second quarter, the Pats got a big play in the form of a fumble recovery by Malcolm Butler, who picked the ball up off the ground after Giants wideout Collin Johnson was stripped on a catch-and-run attempt. (Johnson was heavily involved all half, reeling in seven receptions for 83 yards.)

Both teams appeared to be somewhat sloppy in their execution, as they combined for 13 penalties and averages of just 3.8 yards per rush and 5.4 per pass. As we move into the second half, we’re likely to see some of the down-roster players get a bit more action, and perhaps we’ll discover a hidden gem or two along the way.

Sit back and enjoy the post-halftime festivities while following the action in our live blog below. Throughout the rest of the game, we’ll be providing highlights, updates and analysis in real time.
