Razer Blade laptops battery swollen or dead
However, some Razer Blade owners are reporting an issue where their laptops battery is swollen or dead and it stops charging for no apparent reason (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
Some users noticed that they can’t close the lid of the laptop properly. And on further investigation, they saw that the laptop’s battery was completely swollen.
I have Razer Blade Base 15 – 2018. And recently I noticed that I can’t close the lid. And yesterday it was obviously that the battery is swollen as the touch pad is not working and it’s very similar to what others have experienced. I am devastated as everything else is in a perfect state, the laptop works just like a first day and I don’t want to get rid of it.

I have a razer blade 15 advance (Late2019) in Hong Kong, recently I found the lid never closes completely with the base of the laptop and didn’t know why. Until today I found the bottom of the laptop has a curvature that I have not seen before, looks as if the battery has gone swollen.

Also, for other users the laptop boots and works well when plugged in. But when the charger is removed, it doesn’t boot up at all even though the battery was displayed as fully charged.
Another issue reported is with the battery level stuck at a certain percentage and not charging at all.
hey guys, my blade 14 has a problem. when i plug in the 230 watt brick its not showing that its charging, but the % stays at the same amount or even goes up. So the laptop doesn’t use the RTX as the GPU that means low fps….

This issue appears to be affecting various laptop models from 2018-2020. So given that it has only been a few years since the launch, these laptops shouldn’t be having any such major issues.
There are constant reports from Razor Blade users on various platforms regarding these issues. So far, the only option that provides support is replacing the battery.
However, it appears that one law firm is already investigating the battery swelling issues with Razer laptops for a class action lawsuit.
That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.
