FIVE FACTS TO KNOW

LOOKING BACK | The Seahawks went 11-4-1 with a 7-2 record in Colonial Athletic Association play to earn their first regular season title in program history. The 11 victories represent the most in the Chris Neal era and the highest overall mark in six years.

HISTORY LESSON | UNCW is 7-12-4 all-time in exhibition contests. The Seahawks are playing two out-of-state opponents in the preseason for the first time. UNCW will play its 19th exhibition at home since 2003.

HOMETOWN PROUD | With the arrival of transfer Summer Beesley, the Seahawks now have four players from Wilmington, NC, on their 2022 roster. Beesley, along with Blair Barefoot and Ainsley Norr are products of John T. Hoggard High School while McKenna Gardner is a graduate of Ashley High School.

HELLO (AGAIN) | The Seahawks return 20 letterwinners from last season’s roster, including eight players who started 10 or more games.

NOTHING EXTRA | The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has approved changes to overtime rules in men’s and women’s soccer for both the regular season and the postseason, effective for the 2022 season. For the regular season, overtime has been eliminated, meaning if a game is tied after the regulation 90 minutes, it will end in a tie. (More Info)
