Chester-le-Street sports retailer relocates to bigger premises as sales “soar”

A specialist sports goods retailer has moved to larger premises within the Drum Industrial Estate at Chester-le-Street.

One Sports Warehouse, which has traded on the Industrial Estate since 2017, has relocated to a unit that is three and a half times bigger.

Measuring 5,018 square feet, the new unit includes an indoor hockey and netball training area with enclosed goalkeeping netting, and space for its expanded range of sporting products. There is also more office space for the staff and plans are afoot to introduce a coffee shop area.

Owner and managing director at One Sports Warehouse, Simon Lee, said: “We’ve created a dedicated indoor area for training, alongside a bigger range of hockey and netball sportswear and equipment.

“Our customers, who include families, sports enthusiasts, and professional players, want to pick from the best netball and hockey gear. Now they can enjoy browsing and try out the kit before they buy in our new retail and sport destination.”

The decision to relocate comes after a sustained growth in business following the appointment of Emily Watkinson as Sales and Marketing Manager. Her influence has supported the company’s swift recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and seen sales “soar”.

Simon continued: “While the last few years have undoubtedly been tough, our pioneering approach to retail and sport has seen the business evolve and we’re now set on a notable upward trajectory.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming and inspiring our consumers with the best sporting product choices and experiences through our new store, which definitely has the wow factor!”
