Tiger Woods has been silent since the news broke last month that the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund had agreed to create a new global golf entity and drop all pending lawsuits.
While Woods has still yet to address the framework agreement – which leaked last week – he did take to Twitter to respond to public documents shared over the weekend from the 15th Judicial Circuit Court in Palm Beach County, Florida, that alleged Woods was supposed to make scripted comments in a players meeting against LIV Golf before the 2022 Travelers Championship.
The documents also included talking points for PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan to “explain how the LIV Golf Series is a threat to your livelihood, your business and the game of golf as a whole”
According to Woods, he hadn’t seen the document until Sunday and he claims he did not attend the meeting in 2022. The rest of the documents shared by the account @desertdufferLLG show how the Tour initially planned to compete with the PIF and LIV Golf.
A year later, the two entities are now planning to work together. Since the groundbreaking news, it has been reported that the US Department of Justice is reviewing the proposed deal, along with the US Senate. The leaders of the Tour, PIF and LIV Golf have even been invited to a senate hearing on July 11, 2023.
Woods, an 82-time winner on Tour, has yet to comment on the proposed deal.
