Welcome to the Rocket Mortgage Classic 2023 second round Friday in Detroit, the PGA Tour’s fifth straight year visiting golf-hungry Michigan. We have tee times, live leaderboard updates and more below.
Peter Kuest and Taylor Moore are tied at the top after each carded an 8-under 64 on a hazy Thursday at Detroit Golf Club.
Kuest had nine birdies and one bogey, and Moore had eight birdies. Kuest, 25 years old and who played at BYU, is in his fourth start on Tour this season after making it in as one of the last players into the 156-man field in Monday’s qualifier. He tees off Friday at 2:11 pm Moore tees at 7:29 am
Ludvig Aberg, the No. 1 player in college this year at Texas Tech, and US Amateur champion Sam Bennett are among seven players one shot back following a 7-under-par 65. Both were among four sleepers we identified pre-tournament.
Collin Morikawa is two behind the leaders at 6 under par after shooting 66, and Rickie Fowler shot an opening 5-under 67.

Three of the past four winners are in the field this year: Tony Finau (2022), Cam Davis (2021) and Nate Lashley (2019). Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 winner, went to the rival LIV Golf last year and is not sanctioned to play on the PGA Tour.
