There is more than a small chance that at least one of the players on the Boston Celtics’ roster will end up being traded by the end of the week as the storied ball club finds itself on the precipice of the NBA’s 2023 free agency period this Friday afternoon.
And should the Celtics elect to make some splashier moves on the trade market, they will find themselves well-positioned to do so with a number of the most sought-after players in the league in terms of trade value. To bolster that understanding beyond our very unbiased opinion here at the Celtics Wire, we turn to our sister site HoopsHype, which put together a list of the top 100 players in the NBA for trade value, with five Celtics making the list.
Let’s see which, and where they landed.
“Malcolm Brogdon’s injury history prevented him from being traded to the Clippers this summer,” writes H/H.
“He might be stuck on the Celtics over the remaining (two) years of his deal.”
“Derrick White has been so valuable for the Celtics that it made Marcus Smart expendable,” suggests H/H.
“He will now have a bigger role on their team going forward.”
“Robert Williams III’s value has fluctuated due to his lack of availability,” relates H/H.
“When he plays, he’s a great rim protector who exceeds the value of his contract.”
“Jaylen Brown is now eligible for a supermax extension worth $290 million over five years,” shares H/H.
“It’ll be interesting to see how his trade value looks if he signs it but doesn’t reach the upper echelon of elite players.”
“Jayson Tatum’s value has remained steady within the Top 5 over the past year,” offers H/H.
“He could earn the top spot if he gets the Celtics over the hump and wins a title with them.”
