Former Edmond North star TO Barrett commits to Missouri
Missouri men’s basketball has landed its first commitment for the 2024 recruiting class. TO Barrett, a combo guard announced his plans to play his college basketball in Columbia on Thursday.
He made the announcement on social media, along with On3.com.
Barrett will play his senior year at the Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, where he recently transferred from Edmond North. He is listed as a four-star recruit on the 247Sports composite rankings.
Barrett plays for MOKAN Elite as part of the Nike EYBL circuit, a team that will be playing in the Peach Jam in July in Atlanta. He has averaged 9.2 points per game, along with 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists with MOKAN Elite.
The guard has checked several of MU head coach Dennis Gates’ boxes during his time on the EYBL circuit. He has thus far posted a positive assist-to-turnover ratio and has nabbed 22 steals in 17 games.
He chose the Tigers over offers from OU, OSU and Missouri State among others. 247Sports lists him as the No. 93 players nationally in its composite rankings, the No. 13 combo guard and the sixth best player in the state of Missouri for the class of 2024.

NFL suspends 3 players indefinitely for violating the gambling policy, a fourth gets 6 games
Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. lost the biggest bet of his life Thursday.
He was waived by the Indianapolis Colts shortly after the NFL suspended Rodgers and two other players indefinitely for gambling on NFL games last season.
The Colts also cut backup defensive end Rashod Berry after Berry and free agent defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor received the same punishment for the same infraction. None of the three can seek reinstatement until after next season.
Tennessee Titans right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere received a six-game suspension for betting on non-NFL sports at the team’s facility, although he can participate in all of the team’s offseason and preseason activities including preseason games.
For the Colts, the decision came swiftly and decisively — even for a potential starter like Rodgers.
Those rules bar players, coaches, team officials and all league personnel from betting on NFL games, placing bets at team facilities or team hotels or having someone else place a bet for them.
NFL executive vice president of communications, public affairs and policy Jeff Miller said last week only players are allowed to bet on non-NFL games following consultation with the NFL Players Association.
At least 10 players have been suspended in the past year, starting with the 2022 season-long suspension of former Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley. He was reinstated in March and now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
JAGUARS: The NFL has suspended Jacksonville left tackle Cam Robinson for the first four games of the regular season for violating league policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Robinson and the team had been waiting for his punishment for more than two months. Knowing it was coming, the Jaguars signed veteran and oft-injured backup Josh Wells to a one-year deal in early April and then used their first-round draft pick on Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison. They hope those moves will help offset being without Robinson for nearly a quarter of the season. Robinson’s suspension is without pay, meaning he will lose roughly $900,000 a game. He’s the highest-paid player on Jacksonville’s roster.

OKC DODGERS: Oklahoma City committed four errors, proving to be the difference in a 4-3 loss Wednesday night against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys at Constellation Field. The Dodgers (0-1/50-24) grabbed a quick lead in the top of the first inning when Drew Avance took a leadoff walk, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Kole Calhoun. Sugar Land (1-0/34-42) tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the inning when the Dodgers committed two errors on one play. Devin Mann homered on the first pitch of the second inning to regain the lead for OKC. Hunter Feduccia then went deep in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-1. Sugar Land scored twice in the fifth inning to tie the game and then scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning when the Dodgers committed an error during a potential inning-ending double play. No Dodgers hitter reached base over the final three innings.
TENNIS: Caroline Wozniacki says that she is returning to competition three years after she retired from professional tennis to start a family. She is a former no. 1-ranked tennis player who won the 2018 Australian Open. She announced the news on Twitter. The US Tennis Association says it will grant her a wild-card invitation to participate in the US Open. Wozniacki has not played since the 2020 Australian Open and she and her husband have two children. Wozniacki turns 33 in July.
