EKU Chooses Justin Tereshko As Next Men’s Golf Head Coach
Tereshko was ranked as one of the top-100 amateurs in the world in 2020.
Tereshko was also ranked as one of the top-100 amateurs in the world in 2020. He beat Xander Schauffele, the fourth ranked player in the current PGA FedExCup standings, 7-and-6 in the match play Round of 64 at the 2014 US Amateur. Tereshko was the North Carolina Open Champion in 2015, the North Carolina Amateur Champion in 2017, the North Carolina Am runner-up in 2015 and 2016, the Kentucky Amateur runner-up in 2018, the Kentucky Match Play runner-up in 2022 and a participant in the United State Amateur in 2014, 2017 and 2020.

He has an impressive reputation and presence as a recruiter, and he has recruited at the highest level of collegiate golf. We are excited to watch Coach, and the student-athletes he will lead and positively impact daily, elevate our program.”
The Madison, Indiana native spent the 2021-22 season as the head men’s golf coach at Bellarmine University. Tereshko took over a program ranked third to last in the Golfstat rankings after his first season of play at the NCAA Division I level. After his first season, he had the Knights ranked higher than 70 other teams. Bellarmine posted eight top-10 finishes during the 2021-22 season, including fourth at the University of Missouri’s Tiger Intercollegiate.

I look forward to coaching our great student-athletes, and making connections in the community and with alumni. I can’t wait to get started!”
After spending two seasons (2018-20) as an assistant coach for the men’s team at the University of Louisville, Tereshko served as the head men’s and women’s coach at Hanover College during the 2020-21 season. He led the Hanover women’s program to a runner-up finish at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. At Louisville, he coached Matthias Schmid who was a two-time All-American and a two-time Palmer Cup participant. He was also the 2021 Rookie of the Year on the DP World Tour (European Tour). The Cardinals finished fourth at the NCAA Regional in 2019 and advanced to the 2019 NCAA National Championship. All five starters were selected to the all-region team in 2020.
For four seasons, 2014 to 2018, Tereshko was the men’s golf head coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. He led the team to three Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships (2015, 2017, 2018) and three NCAA Championship appearances. Guilford finished as the national runner-up in 2017, fifth in 2018 and eighth in 2015. Tereshko was the 2019 ODAC Coach of the Year and tutored six All-America selections.
Tereshko was the men’s and women’s golf assistant coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana for two seasons. He helped DePauw capture two North Coast Athletic Conference championships (2013 and 2014) and finish eighth at the NCAA Championship in consecutive appearances. He coached four All-America selections.
Tereshko was a two-time All-American (2011 and 2012) as a golfer at Transylvania University. He earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in exercise science in May of 2012.
Tereshko and his wife Kelsey have two daughters – Charlie and Maddie.
The Eastern Kentucky men’s golf program has won 12 conference championships. EKU has placed among the top four at the conference championship 38 times in the last 44 events.
