Here’s when the Reds could break the franchise win-streak record (knock on bats)

Hands up if you saw this coming a few weeks ago. As of June 23, the Cincinnati Reds have won an astonishing 11 games in a row. When a team’s winning streak gets into the double digits, that gets you wondering about records.

Cincinnati’s best win streak ever was when it won 14 games in a row in 1899. And if the Reds win their three games against the Atlanta Braves this weekend, boom, they will tie that record. (Math!)

After sweeping the Royals, Astros and Rockies, Cincy plays the Braves at 6:40 pm Friday, 4:10 pm Saturday and 1:40 pm Sunday.

If you hate a tie (as much as ‘Ted Lasso’ does), the Redlegs can BREAK that record by following up that sweep with just one win against the Baltimore Orioles at 7:05 pm Monday.

OK, but what about the all-time MLB record? We still have a ways to go before starting that conversation, as the New York Giants won 26 consecutive games in 1916.

We’re not here to do any jinxing … but remember what that kid from “Angels in the Outfield” said? Hey, it could happen.

So there ya’ go, record-seekers. Monday is the day that you could say, emphatically, this is the best ever (streaking) Reds team of all time. Put that in your glove and smoke it.
