Former Texas Tech golfer Ludvig Aberg turned in a 1-under-par 71 in the third round of the RBC Canadian Open on Saturday at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.
Playing in his first tournament since earning a PGA Tour card, Aberg holed three birdies. He tallied two bogeys to put him at 4-under overall heading into the final round.
Aberg opened with a 3-under 69 on Thursday, when he was also announced as men’s golf Big 12 player of the year. He followed with an even 72 on Friday.
Aberg enters the final round Sunday in a tie for 33rd place. CT Pan leads the field at 14-under.
Women’s basketball
ESPNW four-star recruit Kalysta “Bird” Martin announced a verbal commitment to the Texas Tech women’s basketball team on Saturday.
The 6-foot-1 guard from San Antonio Providence Catholic is in the Class of 2024. She averaged 24.7 points, 14.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists this past season. She added 4.2 blocks and 2.2 steals per game for Providence Catholic, which competes in TAPPS 5A.
Martin got a 91 grade from ESPNW in its HoopGurlz recruiting rankings.
