The Arizona Cardinals have not done much on the defensive line this offseason. Their biggest move was to add former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Carlos Watkins.
He is the most experienced D-lineman on the roster now.
The Cowboys wanted him back but the decision wasn’t hard for him to sign with Arizona.
“I could just see the vision,” he told reporters of what head coach Jonathan Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis shared with Watkins when he was wooed by the team.
“I think this was the best fit for me and my family and what I’ve got going on,” he said.
Watkins sees the Cardinals’ defense as different than what he was doing in Dallas.
“Up front, we just get a little more freedom to play forward and do what a D-lineman does,” he said. “There are things within the scheme that really help us out and that are beneficial to me to make plays.
“It makes a lot of sense for me to be here.”
