Mitchell and Sioux Falls Christian won the 2023 SDHSAA Girls Golf Championship for Class AA and A.
Mitchell won the Class AA championship by three strokes over Aberdeen Central.
Sioux Falls Lincoln and O’Gorman tied for fifth place at 92 shots over par. Sioux Falls Washington, Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls Jefferson rounded out the 10, 11 and 12 spots in Class AA.
Huron senior Bryn Huber won the Class AA individual state championship in dramatic fashion over Mitchell junior Allison Meyerink. The two finished the tournament tied at one shot over par and had to play a playoff to determine a winner.
O’Gorman eighth grader Erin Hurd finished in eighth place and shot 10 over par. Harrisburg sophomore Brinley Sanderson tied with two other golfers for 15th place including Sioux Falls Lincoln senior Morgan Sandness.
Four golfers tied for 18th including Sioux Falls Washington junior Megan Christoffels, Harrisburg senior Mattie Weidenbach. They all finished 16 over par.
In Class A Sioux Falls Christian finished in first, eight shots better than second place Vermillion.
St. Thomas More freshman Rylan Horning won the Class A individual state title.
Canton senior Olivia Sorlie finished in second place. Sioux Falls Christian freshman Tori Peterson finished in fifth place, shooting 26 over par.
Chargers senior Claire Lamfers finished tied for seventh, and her teammate junior Cecilia VanDenTop finished tied for ninth place.
