Lucas Giolito has pitched two no-hit outings this season through six innings, making him the first pitcher in
On Tuesday, against the New York Yankees, Giolito got through six innings without allowing a hit. He gave up three walks and struck out seven batters. Pedro Grifol and the White Sox elected to substitute Giolito for Joe Kelly after the former pitched 100 pitches.
Against the Philadelphia Phillies on Apr. 18, Giolito, again, pitched six innings and 102 pitches. He allowed one walk then and no hits, striking out seven batters. The White Sox allowed one hit as a team that day, winning 3-0.
This season, Giolito holds a 4.08 ERA through 12 starts with the White Sox. He has 69 strikeouts and 21 walks through 68.1 innings pitched this season.
Earlier in May, Jon Heyman mentioned Giolito as a trade candidate at the deadline for the Sox. Giolito is in the middle of a contract year; if the White Sox choose to pivot from their championship window, he could be a trade piece to help boost their farm system.

“I don’t think it’s likely he’ll (Dylan Cease) be traded because he has two years after this year where he avoids free agency,” Heyman said on MLB Network. “They have some other trade candidates I think are more likely. (Lucas) Giolito I think. (Mike) Clevinger, if healthy, is more likely to get dealt than Cease. But I think teams will be asking about him if they’re not in the race. And it’s gonna take a haul.”
