All about Jaxon
Tell something about yourself that most people don’t know.
That’s a tough question. I’d say I was a really good field goal kicker. When I was in the sixth grade, I could kick a 35-yard field goal. I should have stuck with it and worked at it, but I didn’t like football as much as I did golf.

What do you consider to be the world’s greatest invention?
Probably electricity. It runs the world.
What has been your favorite vacation?
I’d say it was three years ago when my family and I went skiing in New Mexico. It’s beautiful there.
On playing golf … over anything else
How did you start playing golf?
My parents played college golf. My mom (Beth) played four years at Texas Tech and my dad (Jason) played one year at Southwest Texas (now Texas State). My dad was a superintendent at a golf course here in Wimberley. I had my first set of clubs at age 4 or 5.
Did you ever play another sport?
My main sport was soccer from age 8 to 12 or 13. I played all throughout elementary school and into junior high. I also played basketball, baseball and flag football in elementary school. In the last two years I’ve just focused on golf.
Have you enjoyed playing sports in a small town?
I like that our golf team has multi-sport athletes on it. Our No. 2 on our golf team is the varsity quarterback for the football team (Cody Stoever). If I played golf at a place like Westlake, I probably wouldn’t even know the varsity quarterback.
On winning state
What was your favorite part about winning state last week?
The bus ride home (from Kingsland to Wimberley). Being able to look back at the round of golf I played and being able to celebrate with my teammates on the bus. Taking a deep breath and saying that’s over with, we handled business.
What has been your favorite round of golf??
When I was a freshman, I shot a 65 in the first round at state. Bogey-free. At the time it was the lowest score I’d ever shot by three shots.
Dream dinner
If you could have dinner with four people in the history of the world, who would they be?
I’d go with Arnold Palmer, Jordan Spieth, Jack Nicklaus and George Strait.
What do you think Arnold and Jack would talk about?
They’d talk about their rivalry and their years playing on the PGA Tour and all the memories they made.
