Nikola Jokic leads the Nuggets past the Lakers to reach the finals

With the Philadelphia 76ers out of the playoffs, now is the time to look around the league and take a look at the remaining playoff action in the NBA.

One of the Sixers’ rivals, specifically Joel Embiid’s friendly rival in Nikola Jokic, is headed to the NBA Finals. The Denver Nuggets made history on Monday as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 113-111 to head to the finals for the first time in franchise history.

Jokic took home Western Conference finals MVP honors after finishing off the Lakers. He had 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists for his eighth triple-double of the playoffs. That is a record for most triple-doubles in a singular playoff run, breaking the previous record of seven held by Wilt Chamberlain.

Jokic and the Nuggets will take on either the Miami Heat or the Boston Celtics in the finals starting on June 1. The Heat currently have a 3-0 stranglehold in the series.
