The Arizona Coyotes need a new home. Did a Twitter poll from the team reveal the team’s options?

The Arizona Coyotes added fuel to speculation surrounding their future Thursday, when they posted a Twitter poll asking voters where the NHL franchise should build its new home.

As of Friday morning, one Valley city was running away with the vote.

With close to 100,000 votes in, Scottsdale had received almost 70% of the vote in the Twitter poll, which had the caption: “Pack, we want to hear from you. Where should the Coyotes build our new home?”

Mesa was second with more than 15% of the vote, while Gilbert had under 9% and Chandler had over 6%.

The replies to the Twitter poll were filled with suggestions for other arena sites for the NHL team, including popular relocation suggestions out of state like Houston, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Kansas City and Quebec.

Relocation speculation is swirling around the Arizona Coyotes after Tempe voters rejected a new arena for the team in an election on Tuesday.

The Coyotes attempted to quiet some of that speculation with a letter to season ticket holders on Wednesday.

The letter, written by President and Chief Executive Officer Xavier A. Gutierrez, said that the team was still committed to Arizona after the disappointing election result for the NHL franchise.

Tempe voters shot down Propositions 301, 302 and 303 in the election, dealing a major blow to the future of the franchise in Arizona.

The letter, addressed “To our Pack,” said: “While we are very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve the proposed Entertainment District, we want to thank all our loyal fans who supported the Coyotes over the years. Your loyalty is what makes us Pack strong.

“During the 2023-24 season, the Arizona Coyotes will play at Mullett Arena.”

The letter continued: “In addition, we remain committed to Arizona and have already begun re-engaging with local officials and sites to solidify a new permanent home in the Valley. We look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks.”

Could the Coyotes have tipped their hand Thursday about where their attempt at a new permanent home could be with the Twitter poll options?
