LeBron James wouldn’t be traded for Victor Wembanyama

There appears to be a new sensation coming into the NBA, and many feel he could change the game.

French phenom Victor Wembanyama is set to enter the league next season, and he will be a member of the San Antonio Spurs after they won Tuesday’s draft lottery. Wembanyama should resurrect a once-elite franchise that has been dormant for the last few years after Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard left.

The freakishly tall center has been described as a generational prospect; in fact, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on Tuesday that he’s possibly “the greatest prospect in the history of team sports.”

Yet, some, such as the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, would rather have an established superstar than the seemingly limitless potential of Wembanyama. The veteran forward said that a few players, including LeBron James, would not be given up for the incoming rookie (h/t Lakers Daily).

“I’m not sure how many [players wouldn’t be dealt for Wembanyama] but there’s definitely a few,” Green said on the latest episode of his podcast. “LeBron wouldn’t be. Steph [Curry] wouldn’t be. I don’t think Luka [Doncic] would be, Joker (Nikola Jokic) wouldn’t be. I think there’s a few more names out there.

“So, let’s just say for the sake of standard roster spots — 450 spots, 435, 440 — would be, which is saying a lot.”

Some may be a little skeptical of how much success Wembanyama will have, given that he’s 19 years old and skinny. But then again, there were some who were skeptical of James and the massive hype he received when he entered the NBA in 2003.
