Giants move up for Deonte Banks: Trade details

As anticipated (and recently predicted), the New York Giants packaged some of their 10 picks in the 2023 NFL draft to move up a single spot in Round 1 on Thursday.

The decision of general manager Joe Schoen was made to secure Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks.

The addition of Banks shores up one of the team’s most glaring weaknesses and also frees them of some late-round picks that likely wouldn’t have fit under the 90-man roster limit.

Here are the full details of the trade:

  • Giants receive pick No. 24

  • Jacksonville Jaguars receive No. 25, No. 160, and No. 240

With the trade, the Giants are down to eight total picks (technically seven remaining). They are as follows:

  • Round 1, Pick 24

  • Round 2, Pick 57

  • Round 3, Pick 89

  • Round 4, Pick 128

  • Round 5, Pick 172

  • Round 6, Pick 209 (via Chiefs)

  • Round 7, Pick 243

  • Round 7, Pick 254

It would not come as much of a surprise if Schoen and the Giants continue moving around throughout the early and mid-rounds of the draft.
