NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson did not have one of his best performances in Game 4 of Brooklyn’s first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. The Nets had an unfortunate ending to their season as they could not find a way to win a game against a 76ers team missing their best player in Joel Embiid. Johnson pointed to the flow of the offense.
“Like I said the whole time, I think it’s our pace,” Johnson said after scoring just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field in Saturday’s 96-88 loss to Philadelphia. After scoring 48 points on 40 shots in the first half, Brooklyn scored just 40 points on the same amount of shots. which explains part of the reason why they lost this game. “Getting the shots we want, finding Claxs (Nic Claxton) underneath (the basket), that was kind of our advantage today,” Johnson continued. “And, we’re punishing them with that. Moving the ball, I think we got a little stagnant and started playing one on one ball and it became harder for us to score.”
The third quarter was telling for both of these teams as Philadelphia found a way to score while Brooklyn had trouble finding any semblance of an effective offense. In the period, the Nets shot 7-of-19 from the field (39%), including 1-of-9 from three-point land. That quarter showed where Brooklyn can focus their efforts in the offseason as their offense did not show up when they needed it the most.
