Mets Notes

  • The Mets are a season-high six games above .500 after Thursday’s win and secured a winning road trip (6-1). New York has won back-to-back games and seven of their last eight contests.

  • Joey Lucchesi will make his first major league appearance since June 18, 2021 at Washington after missing all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. RHP John Curtiss was optioned to Syracuse to make room for Lucchesi.

  • New York’s offense is second in the majors with 96 free passes this season and they have struck out just 139 times this season — the second-second fewest in the majors. That gives the Mets a 5.5 percent rate of K/BB ratio — the best in the majors.

  • Brandon Nimmo collected three hits on Thursday and has eight hits in his last two games. He’s the 11th player in Mets history to record eight or more hits in a two-game span, as the last to do it was Amed Rosariowho went 9-for-11 on August 14-15, 2019 at Atlanta.

  • Pete Alonso needs one home run in the next 10 days to set a Mets record for March/April homers. He also hit nine home runs in March/April 2019. John Buck, Carlos Delgado, Dave Kingman and Neil Walker are the only other Mets in club history with nine home runs in the season’s first month.
