A mobile mammography unit will be traveling around northeast Ohio providing healthcare to women throughout the month of August.

The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center Mobile Mammography Unit “provides easier access to quality care to women,” according to the press release.

The unit uses the same technology and equipment located in the JACBCC to perform mammograms.

Talking with a doctor about when to have a screening mammogram is recommended. Screening mammograms are usually a covered benefit with most insurance carriers, and financial assistance is available for mobile screenings.

Certified radiologists read all mammograms, and Mercy Health double-checks all mammograms with a computer-aided detection system that helps detect breast cancer more than mammography alone.
