Compact mini PCs that resemble a slightly modified laptop chassis without the display and keyboard are not a new concept. Minisforum was probably the first to come up with such a design when it introduced the NUCX15/17 models based on Intel’s own NUC laptop kits, but those featured Gen 11 mobile processors. Meanwhile, Intel upgraded the NUC X15 kits to support Gen 12 Alder Lake-H processors, and the only mini PC producer to currently offer something similar is Chatreey with its new G2 model that is powered by up to an i9-12900H processor and up to an RTX 3050 Ti dGPU.
Chatreey’s G2 is actually smaller compared to Minisforum’s designs, as it integrates the less powerful RTX 3050 dGPUs. It measures 310 x 250 x 55 mm (12.2 x 9.8 x 2.2 inches) and also features some fancy RGB lighting plus lateral panels inspired by the PS5 design. The base barebone model comes with an i7-12700H processor and an RTX 3050, but Chatreey also offers variants with the i9-12900H processor, up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and up to 2x 1 TB SSD + 1x 2 TB HDD storage . The RTX 3050 Ti option appears to be out of stock right now.
Port selection features 4x USB-A 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 1x USB-C 3.2 with DP mode, dual HDMI 2.0 outputs, audio jacks, and an Ethernet jack. It also includes wireless connectivity via an integrated Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.0 card.
Prices start at US$687.56 for the i7-12700H + RTX 3050 barebones, while a full option model with i9-12900H + RTX 3050 + 64 GB RAM + 4 TB storage costs 1,194.30.

I first stepped into the wondrous IT&C world when I was around seven years old. I was instantly fascinated by computerized graphics, whether they were from games or 3D applications like 3D Max. I’m also an avid reader of science fiction, an astrophysics aficionado, and a crypto geek. I started writing PC-related articles for Softpedia and a few blogs back in 2006. I joined the Notebookcheck team in the summer of 2017 and am currently a senior tech writer mostly covering processor, GPU, and laptop news.
