Landmark three-year deal a major boost for golf in Regional NSW

A landmark partnership between Golf NSW and the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is set to provide a huge boost for golf in Regional NSW over the next three years (2024-2026).

The announcement of a “bumper program” of men’s and women’s golf events includes the Australian Women’s Classic and the Men’s and Women’s NSW Open Championships, plus qualifying events and new events.

It is estimated that $13.5 million will be pumped into regional economies through the partnership.

Three-year deal a big hit for Regional NSW

NSW Golf CEO Stuart Fraser outlined why the agreement will provide such a major boost to regional areas.

“All of our major events are heading regionally,” he said SEN 1170 Mornings.

“We’ve got lots of great country courses and thankfully through this partnership we’re going to take some major events there and really showcase regional New South Wales.

“One of the biggest benefits apart from economics, is just the morale boost. We’ve had clubs struggle with floods, fires and droughts in the last few years so an announcement like this is a real boost for these areas.”

The state of NSW boasts in excess of 166,000 registered golfers and more than 370 golf courses, making it a haven for hosting major golf tournaments.

The Golf NSW major event calendar from 2024-2026 will include:
· Men’s NSW Open Championship (annual)
· Men’s NSW Open Regional qualifying events (x 6 annually)
· Men’s NSW Senior Open Championship (annual)
· Women’s NSW Open Championship (annual)
· Women’s NSW Open Regional qualifying events (x 6 annually)
· Australian Women’s Classic (annual)
· World Sand Greens Championship – Men & Women (annual)

As an extension, Sports Entertainment Network’s production unit Rainmaker will continue to support Golf NSW.

Rainmaker partnered with Golf NSW last Friday to showcase the NSW Amateur Finals at Pennant Hills Golf Club in Sydney. Rising stars Abel Eduard and Shyla Singh came out victorious in a fantastic showcase of golf.

Utilizing the hub format of broadcast, Rainmaker provided comprehensive coverage of the Amateur Finals, capturing the most pivotal moments as the competition came to a head.

Hole flyovers, interviews on course, scenic vision of both the host club Pennant Hills and the sights of wider Sydney were all included to level up the coverage of the Amateur finals.

Rainmaker is proud to partner with Golf NSW and their relationship continues to grow into 2023 with more amateur and professional events on the horizon.
