NHL Star, Struggling With Spanish Lessons Off Ice, Shares Deep Emotions Arising Out of Poor Performance

The Tampa Bay Lightning currently stands strong in the third position in the Atlantic Division. They had a five-game winning streak in the NHL before their fun was ruined by the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers. Lightning was defeated by scores of 6-3 and 5-3, respectively. Apart from the wins, these two losses were enough to break the confidence of their defenseman, Mikhail Sergachev.

As a defenseman, Sergachev takes it upon himself if the puck goes inside the net of the Lightning. The recent YouTube video of the Tampa Bay Lightning reveals that the Russian NHL star is learning Spanish off the ice rink. During the session, he shares his emotions regarding the recent games.

As the playoffs approach, Mikhail Sergachev is not willing to take any chances. The only thing on his mind except his Spanish lessons is to win every single upcoming game for his team.

The Russian ice hockey player in the YouTube video says, “I feel like I have a potential to be something. I feel like I’ll regret it until my last day if I don’t play well or if I don’t perform, and uh yeah just that motivates me to be the best I can be.”

Even after winning back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021, Sergachev feels like he needs to unleash his maximum potential yet. And if he fails to do so in any game, he just regrets it, like any athlete with an elite mentality would. The 24-YO also mentions how the two consecutive losses to the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers just ruined his confidence.

Despite a shameful defeat against the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers, the Tampa Bay Lightning are back with a bang. Earlier, in their match against the Minnesota Wild, they obliterated the Wild by 4-2, and Sergachev also contributed to his team by scoring two assists.

Then on January 26, the Amalie Arena unit faced the Boston Bruins, the top team in the Atlantic Division. The match was pretty intense. The Bruins were also on a six-game winning streak. But their streak was ended by Victor Hedman’s goal during the last five minutes of the third period. The match ended with a score of 3-2, and the Lightning are yet again close to the playoffs.
