Are Soccer Legend David Beckham and NFL Star Odell Beckham Jr. Related?

We’ve all heard about the names David Beckham and Odell Beckham Jr. David Beckham is already part of the soccer ‘Hall of Fame’. During his playing days, the English soccer star garnered a massive fan base across the world. However, it’s safe to say that Odell Beckham Jr. is not far behind. The American wide receiver burst onto the NFL scene in 2014 when he was with the New York Giants. Over the years, the NFL star has made quite a name for himself.

The biggest question currently on everyone’s mind is whether the two Beckhams are related or not.

Is Odell Beckham Jr. related to David Beckham?

The two Beckhams are definitely fantastic sportspersons in their respective sports. However, the two Beckhams are definitely not related. Odell Beckham Jr. did play quite a lot of soccer during his childhood. The NFL star also once admitted that he joked about being related to the English soccer legend in the past. The simple reason is that the famous wide receiver has been a longtime admirer of David Beckham.

The NFL star may not be related to David Beckham, but he is certainly very familiar with soccer. Both of Odell Beckham Jr.’s parents were athletes. This means that their son never lacked athleticism and discipline. One of Odell Beckham Jr.’s former coaches once told ESPN that the NFL star would definitely have had a bright future if he actually stuck with soccer.

Colin Rowe told ESPN, “His first couple steps are so quick out of his break that you’re almost five steps behind him when it happens. If he stuck with the game, he’d be an elite soccer player”.

The NFL star managed to meet the English soccer legend when he was younger. Odell Beckham Jr. told ESPN, “I got to meet one of my childhood idols since I could ever remember, and a guy who I watched probably since I was 4 or 5 years old, David Beckham. It was a pretty surreal moment for me, meeting a guy who I’ve clowned about being a relative of all this time”.

Odell Beckham Jr. definitely has that swagger, just like David Beckham did. The famous wide receiver admitted that he quite likes the attention. He admitted that he needs to work on a lot of areas. The NFL star revealed, “Taking the helmet off, anything to draw more attention than what’s necessary, that stuff that I definitely need to work on”.

As things stand, David Beckham is a well-established soccer legend and Odell Beckham Jr. is on his way to being the ‘best of the best’. However, both the star athletes are not related in any way.
