The desire for sustainable tech has never been stronger, and few are as dedicated to the cause as HP. Since 2019, HP has worked to incorporate recycled materials into just about every component of its PC portfolio. But at CES 2023, HP introduced two more exciting and environmentally friendly products into its family of computers. We got an early look at these models at a pre-CES session. See our first impressions above, and read on for more.
A Greener Laptop
The first is the HP 14-inch Eco Edition, a 13th Generation Intel laptop largely made up of recycled post-consumer materials, recycled metals, and even used cooking oil. The second is the new HP 24 and 27-inch all-in-one PCs, or AIOs, which use composite recycled materials to create an innovative frame.
The 14-inch Eco Edition is HP’s most eco-friendly laptop to date. Using 50% recycled aluminum in its display cover and 50% post-consumer recycled plastics in its keycaps, HP’s latest laptop is already sticking to sustainability. But HP takes it a step further, embedding used cooking oil into the back cover to address a global disposal problem in a new and unique way.

While the laptop sacrifices many of its harmful metals and plastics, it doesn’t sacrifice any of its performance. Powered by a 13th Gen Intel processor, the laptop will come with up to 1TB of SSD storage, up to 16GB of dedicated RAM, and your choice of a full HD or QHD panel with a 16:10 ratio—all topped off with a full HD webcam.
An All-in-One Sustainable Option
Not to be outdone by its mobile options, HP’s sustainable thinking makes its way into its all-in-one PCs as well. Both the 24- and 27-inch models will use 40% post-consumer recycled materials in their chassis, 75% recycled aluminum in their stand arms and necks, 100% recycled polyester in their felt bases, and even organic materials, like coffee grounds that give each AIO a speckled finish. The coffee grains are evident when you look up close at the bezels.

Like any computer, the inside is what counts the most, and these AIOs are equipped to deliver. Coming with both next-generation AMD and Intel silicon, both models will give you the choice of up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM or up to 16GB of DDR5 RAM with the AMD option, and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
Both models have full HD displays with optional touch control, optional 1080p webcams, Wi-Fi 6, and the latest Bluetooth 5.3.

New Systems Increase Performance, Reduce Impact
All of these new products use 100% sustainably sourced and recyclable materials in their packaging, doing away with zip ties, plastic bags, and packing foam, reducing waste and HP’s carbon footprint in the process.
Pricing and release date have yet to be confirmed, but we’re eager to check out both the laptop and AIOs when this environmentally friendly hardware launches later this year.
