Today Tuesday, January 24 marks the fifth International Day of Education, and ExxonMobil in Papua New Guinea is celebrating this year’s theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”.
From early childhood learning through to tertiary scholarships, teacher training as well as school infrastructure, ExxonMobil and its affiliates in PNG are committed to supporting positive education outcomes in the country.
Chairman and managing director at ExxonMobil PNG, Peter Larden re-emphasized EMPNG’s education focus.
“We understand that education is the critical foundation for development and creating lasting opportunities for Papua New Guineans.
Not only is a strong educational foundation fundamental, but we need to work together to help translate education into sustainable economic development,” Mr Larden said.
He said ExxonMobil and its affiliates in PNG believe that education is the key to economic empowerment and that all Papua New Guineans should have the opportunity to learn and feel empowered.
“Through investment and partnerships with stakeholders in the public and private sectors, EMPNG is helping to strengthen education across the country,” he said.
