Two men arrested for snatching mobile from woman, son in Delhi

The police checked footage of over 200 CCTVs on the 15-km route and, after 10 days, tracked the two to Old Delhi and nearby areas.

By Tanseem Haider: Two bike-borne men snatched the mobile phone from a woman who was waiting for an autorickshaw with her son in Delhi’s Seemapuri area. The incident took place on January 1, 2023, and the two have since been arrested.

The complainant, Reema Sharma, said that she was waiting for an autorickshaw with her son near Delhi’s Chintamani Chowk around 10:50 PM when suddenly the two came on a bike and snatched away the mobile phone from her son.

The police checked footage of over 200 CCTVs on the 15-km route and, after 10 days, tracked the two to Old Delhi and nearby areas.

They subsequently found that the two belonged to the Mata Sundri Road area and found the bike in a parking area in the Trans Yamuna Region. The team laid a trap in the parking area for 72 hours and arrested the armed accused from outside the parking lot.

The accused have confessed to their involvement in multiple mobile-snatching incidents in the last two months across Delhi. They used a stolen bike with a fake number plate for the crime.
