Local LB Bodie Kahoun lands offer from Virginia Tech, sets back-to-back visits

Roanoke (VA) Patrick Henry Class of 2024 dual-sport standout Bodie Cahoun has already given an early verbal commitment to Ohio State to play lacrosse, but that didn’t stop Virginia Tech from extending a scholarship offer on the football field.

Despite his commitment to Ohio State, Kahoun is “very excited” to explore his future on the football field as well.

“I’m very much excited to explore the football recruiting opportunities and offers,” he said.

Kahoun was offered by Defensive Coordinator Chris Marve on Monday morning.

“Being able to play at the Division I level is a great opportunity,” Kahoun said.

Being local to Virginia Tech, located just a short drive away from campus, Kahoun has had the opportunity to grow up around the Hokies program, attending games and summer camps.

“I definitely had the opportunity to see some games,” he said. “Enter Sandman fires the whole crowd up.”

Later this month, Kahoun plans to return to Virginia Tech twice to get a better feel for the coaching staff and get back on campus.

“I’m going up on the 23rd for a basketball game with the staff and then I have a junior day visit on the 28th. I’m very excited for both.”

Aside from Virginia Tech, Kahoun is looking into setting up visits with NC State, Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, and others.

A former free safety, Kahoun was tasked with moving closer to the line of scrimmage at the linebacker position.

“This year was actually my first year playing it,” he explained. “It was very fun to learn and succeed at a new position.

“I played safety until this year. Linebacker definitely gets a lot more in the play and shows a whole different side of football and how physical it is.”
