On Saturday night, the Avs dominated the Ottawa Senators with a 7-0 win. Both Alex Newhook and Artturi Lehkonen had two-goal, three-point performances in that one. Mikko Rantanen also scored two goals, and 12 players had at least one point. In net, Pavel Francouz made 29 saves to earn his first shutout of the year. On Monday night, the Avalanche will try to keep that momentum going. They’ll be at home against, hosting the Detroit Red Wings (18-16-7) at Ball Arena.

Last week, the Red Wings had a couple of big offensive performances. They beat the Winnipeg Jets 7-5 on Tuesday and then topped the Toronto Maples Leafs on Thursday 4-1. However, they couldn’t extend their winning streak on Saturday and are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
