The 9 best tech deals of January 2023 (so far)

Some folks are weekend warriors; some are weekend shoppers. If you’re in the latter category, good news: Amazon has some solid deals running on some great tech products. Below I’ve rounded up my top picks, all of them discounted and in stock as of this writing. That can change on a moment’s notice, though, so if you see something of interest, I recommend grabbing it.

Amazon

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max Streaming Device

$35$55

This ties the lowest price on record for Amazon’s flagship streaming stick, which features fast Wi-Fi 6, push-button Alexa voice controls and support for Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service. (So, yeah, it’s pretty much a complete game console as well, though you’ll need to buy a controller separately.) With a 4.7-star average rating from over 100,000 (!) buyers, how can you go wrong?

GiveBest

GiveBest Portable Electric Space Heater with Thermostat

$35$50Save $15

If you’re layered under blankets and sweaters and still just not warm enough, it’s time for a space heater. This top-rated model (4.4-star average from over 68,000 buyers), currently priced at $17 below list, promises to heat a room as large as 200 square feet. It features two fan speeds and both overheat and tip-over protection. And it’s extremely quiet, producing less than 45 decibels, according to GiveBest. A standard refrigerator generates about 50.

Baseus

Baseus MagSafe Power Bank, 10,000mAh Foldable Kickstand Wireless Portable Charger

$38$70

Save $32 with 20%-off coupon

If you own an iPhone 13 or later and haven’t experienced the joys of MagSafe, you’re missing out. This Baseus power bank not only charges your phone wirelessly, it also clamps on magnetically. As an added bonus, it has a fold-out kickstand so you can read a book or watch a movie, hands-free, while charging. There’s an LCD status display so you know how much power remains and a USB-C port for charging a second device simultaneously.

Amazon Amazon Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) Smart Display

$80$130Save $50

Although this was a bit cheaper around the holidays, it’s still an extremely good deal on a very capable smart-screen. The Echo Show 8 does all the Alexa things — music, podcasts, weather, jokes and so on — but can also play videos from YouTube, Netflix and other services. That makes it suitable for just about any room in your home, be it kitchen, bedroom or office. For my money this offers the best bang-for-buck of all the Echo Show models.

iDPRT

iDPRT Thermal Label Printer SP410

$111$175

Save $64 with $8-off coupon

Whether you run a small business or just ship things on a semi-regular basis, a thermal label printer is essential. I bought one a couple years ago and can’t imagine living without it. iDPRT’s top-rated model works on every platform with every major shipping service and supports a variety of label sizes. (Speaking of which, labels are all you need; the printer requires no ink or toner.) The SP410 is rarely priced this low (with coupon), so grab it while you can.

VIZIO

Vizio V-Series 2.1 Home Theater Soundbar V214x-K6

$130$150Save $20

You need a sound bar. Or, rather, your TV does; its built-in speakers aren’t doing your ears any favors. Thankfully, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a seriously good audio upgrade. Vizio’s setup combines a 30-inch speaker bar with a wireless subwoofer, with different modes available for music, movies and gaming. It’s also a Bluetooth speaker, able to stream from your phone or tablet, and because there’s onboard Alexa, it’s more or less an Amazon Echo smart speaker as well.

Fitbit

Fitbit Versa 4 Fitness Smartwatch, Waterfall Blue/Platinum

$155$230Save $75

By all accounts the Fitbit Versa 4 is one of the best smartwatches money can buy, and if you don’t mind the Waterfall Blue/Platinum color, you can buy it for a lot less money than usual. (The other two colors are also on sale, but for $180.) The Versa 4 does it all: phone notifications, exercising tracking (with GPS), heart-rate and oxygen-level monitoring and lots more. Plus, you can get up to six days of battery life, a huge improvement over Apple watches.

Beats

Beats Fit Pro True Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds

$160$200Save $40

Apple’s best AirPods that aren’t AirPods, the Beats Fit Pro are comfort-minded earbuds equipped with Apple’s H1 chip, which offers a raft of benefits (including better battery life, faster connections, hands-free “Hey Siri” and more). These sweatproof earbuds also offer active noise canceling (ANC) and support for spatial audio, which can be pretty incredible when you’re watching video. This price ties the lowest on record.

BLUETTI

Bluetti Portable Power Station AC200P

$1,399$1,599

Save $200 with $200-off coupon

Want to be prepared for the next big storm? Got an RV that needs serious power? The Bluetti AC200P is here to handle all that and more. This battery-powered gas-generator alternative can produce 2,000 watts across six AC outlets, but that’s just for starters. (It has DC, USB and Qi charging ports as well.) Optional solar panels keep the unit charged full-time more or less for free. Take note, however: The AC200P weighs 60 pounds, so although it’s technically portable, it’s also heavy as hell.

If you have Amazon Prime, you’ll get free shipping, of course. Not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.)
