The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired minor leaguers INF Caleb Durbin and RHP Indigo Diaz from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for LHP Lucas Luetge.
Durbin, 22, hit .241/.352/.372 (92-for-382) with 72R, 22 doubles, 2 triples, 8HR, 62RBI, 50BB and 31SB in 105 combined games with Single-A Augusta and High-A Rome in 2022. Over two minor league seasons in the Braves organization (2021-22), he has hit .244/.351/.363 (107-for-438) with 80R, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 8HR, 68RBI, 55BB and 43SB in 122 career games. The Evanston, Ill., native was selected by the Braves in the 14th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.).
Diaz, 24, went 3-4 with four saves and a 3.08 ERA (49.2IP, 29H, 20R/17ER, 31BB, 63K, 4HR) in 49 relief appearances with Double-A Mississippi in 2022. Over parts of three minor league seasons in the Braves organization (2019, ’21-22), he has gone 10-6 with nine saves and a 2.31 ERA (105.0IP, 59H, 31R/27ER, 49BB, 161K, 5HR) in 87 career relief outings. A native of North Vancouver, BC, Canada, he was originally selected by the Braves in the 27th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Michigan State University.
Luetge, 35, went 4-4 with two saves and a 2.67 ERA (57.1IP, 63H, 19R/17ER, 17BB, 60K, 4HR) in 50 relief appearances with the Yankees in 2022. Over parts of six Major League seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2012-15) and Yankees (2021-22), the left-handed pitcher has gone 11-11 with five saves and a 3.38 ERA (218.2IP, 215H, 96R/82ER, 79BB, 212K, 18HR) in 218 career games (one start). He was originally signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 11, 2020. The Brenham, Tex., native was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 21st round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Rice University ( Tex.).
