Heading into the NHL’s holiday break last week, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche (19-11-2) had the longest winning streak in the Western Conference at four games. It’s been close, as they’ve won their last three games in overtime including one in a shootout. After opening the stretch with a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators, they then beat the New York Islanders 1-0, followed by a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, and then another win over the Predators that finished 3-2. . They’ll put that streak on the line Tuesday night, when they take on the Arizona Coyotes (11-16-5).

The Coyotes have been playing some of its best hockey as of late. The Coyotes have earned at least one point in five of their last 10 contests, with a 2-1 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings last time out on Friday.
This will be the first game between the Avalanche and Coyotes this season. Last year they split the four meetings with two wins each, with each team winning and losing a game at their respective home buildings.
