Executives at the NBA’s annual G League Winter Showcase believe that Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young may be the next player on a rookie max extension to request a trade if the team does not make a playoff run, according to Bleacher Report.
The Hawks have dealt with chemistry issues over the last season en route to winning only one game during the postseason before being eliminated by the Miami Heat.
The team has shown similar issues this year and currently sits ninth in the east at 16-16 despite the addition of star guard Dejounte Murray, a player Young encouraged the team to trade for.

The Hawks recently shook things up in the front office by reassigning former team president Travis Schlenk -who drafted Young- to an advisor role within the organization.
Reassigning Schlenk also positioned new general manager Landry Fields as the team’s lead decision maker for basketball operations.
Fields was hired as the Hawks GM in June of this year and has not been shy about showing a willingness to shake up the roster as power forward John Collins has been floating around in trade talks for an extended period of time.

The uber-competitive Young has still shown himself to be one of the league’s premier scoring guards averaging 27.6 and 9.8 assists.
Although trading a player as young and talented as him would be a major determine to any team’s roster, the haul they receive in return as well as already having Murray to run the point could leave the team in a much more well-rounded position going forward .
It would also provide one of the largest shake-ups in the NFL in recent memory and the trade watch will certainly make for an exciting summer if Atlanta remains mediocre at the end of the season.
Murray has shown the same two-way prowess that made him beloved with the San Antonio Spurs before being shipped to the Hawks last offseason.
Dejounte Murray was acquired by the Hawks via trade this summer, but it hasn’t changed much
