More than 40 members of the Toft Seniors section, some dressed in festive attire, took part in this year’s three club plus a putter stableford competition for the Presidents Cup, on a bitterly cold day with both the fairways and greens rock hard.
Players were only allowed to play with four clubs, one of which had to be a putter.
Scoring was particularly high in the very difficult conditions, and many players were left wondering whether they should always play with only four clubs.
In third place was Kevin Marshall (24) on countback from Geoff Tinson (36).
Eric King (20) took second place with 35 points. The winner, not for the first time in this competition, with 36 points was Nigel Turnbull (30).
The Seniors enjoyed their annual Christmas and presentation lunch on Friday, at which all the trophies won during the year were awarded.
Seniors captain Paul Smith welcomed members who sat down to an enjoyable Christmas dinner at the Masonic Center in Bourne. A raffle and auction raised money for the section’s charity.
Captain Paul then presented the 2021/22 competition winners and runners-up with their trophies and vouchers.

The Playing Committee annual meeting last month started with a presentation by the three retiring captains to the Don’t Lose Hope charity for £3,241.
