Lenovo 500 USB Type-C Universal Dock expands a PC’s I/O with more speedy ports

  • by

Even the largest of the latest IdeaPads to debut during CES 2023 are still a little light on USB type-C counts. Then again, the OEM asserts that a user can get the best out of just 1 of these powerful ports by connecting it to the new 500 Universal Dock.

Lenovo is confident that it can suit a new IdeaPad, as well as any type C-capable laptop around the home, with its simple and compact white chassis. On plugging it in, the user will find a DisplayPort, an HDMI output and dual USB type-A ports (one of which is powered) next to its ‘PC-in’ type-C port.

On the other side of the dongle-like accessory, there are 2 more type-Cs, each of which is rated for 10Gb/s transfer speeds. They are also powered to varying degrees: 1 to 3.5A and the other to 1.5A; therefore, a user might be able to plug some mobile devices into the former and accessories such as headsets into the latter.

The Lenovo 500 USB Type-C Universal Dock is scheduled to be released in April 2023, at a price of €249 (~US$264).
