The Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1 TB is now crowdfunding in China. The campaign already has over 10,000 supporters, raising upwards of 1.5 million yuan (~US$215,245). The large-capacity gadget has read and write speeds of up to 2,000 Mbps, allowing you to transfer an average 4K movie file in around one minute.
The external SSD is compatible with many devices using Windows 7, macOS X 10.6, Android 9 or Linux Ubuntu 16 or later. Plus, the gadget is compatible with interfaces including USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0. The device comes with USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. The Mobile SSD 1 TB has an aluminum alloy body measuring 77.8 x 46.5 x 75 mm (~3.1 x 1.8 x 3.0-in) and weighing 60 g (~2.1 oz), making it easy to transport. Xiaomi provides a three-year warranty for the gadget and claims it will work in temperatures from 0 to 40 °C (~32 to 104 °F).
You can currently receive the Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1 TB when you pledge 649 yuan (~US$93) to the crowdfunding campaign. The campaign ends on December 21, when the gadget is expected to retail for 799 yuan (~US$114). The device is scheduled to ship on December 22. It is unclear whether or when Xiaomi could launch the product in other markets.
