Civil services’ golf tournament: Rupinder claims top spot

In the serving officers’ segment, Rupinder Singh (PPS) was declared the winner in the gross category, while Aditya Gupta (PCS) was the runner-up in the CSR Reddy Memorial Civil Services Golf Meet held at the Chandigarh Golf Range on Sunday.

In the tournament, which was organized by the Chandigarh Golf Association, events were held in gross as well as net categories over a score of 18 holes for both serving and retired officers.

The civil services’ tournament, which is held in memory of former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer CSR Reddy, who played a significant role in shaping the Chandigarh Golf Range.

In the serving officers’ segment, Gaurav Toora (IPS) was crowned champion in the net category, followed by MS Rawat (IPS) who finished as runners-up. In the retired officers’ segment, JS Khaira (CPS) emerged as champion in the gross category and Ashok Gupta IAS (Retd) was runner-up. In the net category, Dr Jagmohan Verma was the winner, while GS Mangat finished as runner-up.

Special prizes were given to serving and retired officers. Panchkula Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) officer Rajesh Dhara won the ‘straightest drive’ competition and MC Panwar (IPS) won the ‘nearest to the pin’ contest among serving officers. In the retired officers’ competition, Ashok Gupta won the ‘straightest drive’ and UDS Ghuman won the ‘nearest to the pin’ contest.

Chandigarh adviser Dharam Pal presided over the event as the chief guest. As many as 68 officers, both serving and retired from different states took part in the tournament, which was held on December 10 and 11 at the Chandigarh Golf Range.
