After winning 12 of 14 games between Oct. 29 and Dec. 1, the Seattle Kraken have dropped three in a row and face-off against the Florida Panthers for the second time in eight days. The Kraken, in the franchises second season, have thrust themselves into the playoff chase in a loaded Western Conference and would be the fifth seed if the playoffs began today. Florida has won three of its last five games, including a 5-1 road win at Seattle on Dec. 3 behind a pair of first period goals by Carter Verhaeghe, snapping the Kraken’s seven-game winning streak.

Center Matty Beniers is the only Kraken skater with double digit goals and assists so far this season and is the offensive catalyst for Seattle. During the Kraken’s seven-game winning streak, Beniers had a point in six of those games, but has been held scoreless during their current three-game losing skid.
Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk leads the team in points and assists and comes into today tied for seventh with 37 points in his first 26 games with Florida. Tkachuk was acquired via trade from Calgary where he spent six seasons after being selected in the first round of the 2016 draft.
Seattle has won two of the three all-time games between these teams, sweeping the Panthers by a combined score of 9-4 a year ago.
