Niagara’s Mobile Closet is teaming up with Start Me Up Niagara to continue to serve those in need in the community.
“By amalgamating, Niagara’s Mobile Closet and Start Me Up Niagara give a life line to a locally born movement while working with various communities across Niagara,” the two organizations wrote in a press release.
Niagara’s Mobile Closet (NMC) has served thousands of people since November 2020, with initiatives to connect low-income and unsheltered community members with clothes that they need.
By teaming up with Start Me Up Niagara (SMUN), they will be able to have more engagement from the community while continuing to distribute clothing and hygiene products.
“There is true value in this service and it has offered us an opportunity to work together and move forward for all those living across Niagara. We are pleased to join together and continue to provide access to these much-needed services in our community,” said Laura Dumas, executive director of Start Me Up Niagara.
NMC says they intend to continue the services they currently offer, like their “no questions asked” shopping events in the future.
“NMC has collaborated with many agencies to mobilize services to our shoppers. If we have anything, we’ve got tenacity, sheer and utter belief in what we are accomplishing here,” said program manager Amy Whittaker.
