The Columbus Blue Jackets were the most profitable “over team” in the NHL last season. The Jackets finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 48-30-4 record, despite the fact that they were only 15th in goals per game. In other words, it was Columbus’ leaky defense and porous goaltending that led to so many games flying past the total.
Not much has changed this season.
Although they aren’t the pacesetters anymore, Columbus ranks second in the circuit in percentage of games (60.9 percent) that have gone over the total this season.

And once again, it isn’t the offense that is doing the heavy lifting for over bettors when it comes to Blue Jackets games. Columbus is only averaging 2.87 goals per game (26th overall), but it is allowing 3.96 goals against per contest, which trails only Anaheim for the worst mark in the league.
While the Buffalo Sabers are a much better offensive team than Columbus, the two teams have plenty in common in their own end. The Sabers are not too far ahead of Columbus in goals against average (3.68 per game) and the two struggling clubs have similarly poor save percentages.

It’s no wonder that Buffalo is right up there with Columbus and Vancouver as one of the most profitable teams in the league this season.
