ST. GEORGE, Utah — A freshman Utah Tech University student is dead after accidentally falling from a fifth-floor balcony early Sunday morning.

In a Utah Tech statement, student Peyton Hall fell from the fifth-floor balcony at Campus View Suites II at approximately 2:30 am while with roommates and friends.

The witnesses called 911, and first responders with the Utah Tech Police Department, St. George Police Department, and medical services arrived on the scene. They attempted lifesaving measures, but Hall was pronounced dead.

Utah Tech said this was ruled as an accidental death.

“Peyton was an involved and loved student in good academic standing at Utah Tech University, and our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this tragic time,” reads the Utah Tech statement.

The university has contacted Hall’s family and offered mental health support to students and others involved in this accident.
