You can never have enough starting pitching.

No one knows that better than Brian Cashman, who will spend the offseason looking for ways to upgrade his staff for 2023.

One of the many decisions the New York Yankees general manager needs to make is how much he’s willing to spend to re-sign right-hander Jameson Taillon.

On Wednesday, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported Taillon’s price tag is climbing.

Word is that Jameson Taillon has impressed teams during his free-agent Zoom meetings. Taillon’s market is gaining steam, per sources, and he is expected to command a deal worth more than the four-year, $56 million contract Jon Gray signed with Texas last winter.

Last week, The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported the Yankees “have been in contact with Hall of Fame bound Justin Verlander, Japanese star Kodai Senga and resurgent lefty Carlos Rodon as well as middle-of-the-order types, such as their own Jameson Taillon.”

According to Heyman, the Yankees’ “confidence level on Verlander is low” but “Yankees people very much like Rodon.”

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported two weeks ago the New York Mets “have been in contact” with Taillon.

The 31-year-old Taillon tied his career high with 14 wins this season, his second in pinstripes. The Yankees acquired Taillon from the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of the 2021 season.
