FIFA World Cup 2022: Perth’s best bars to watch the soccer

More than 3.5 billion people globally tuned into the last FIFA World Cup in 2018, and that number is predicted to further skyrocket this year.

The world’s biggest soccer event kicks off in Qatar on Monday, Perth time, and runs through to December 18, with 32 national teams competing for the title across 64 games.

Hosts Qatar will go head to head with Ecuador at 12am AWST on Monday, and the Socceroos will have their first clash against France on November 23 at 3am AWST.

Sports fans know that matches are best enjoyed in a lively atmosphere, so we have rounded up the top pubs broadcasting matches.

Varsity

As the self-confessed home of the FIFA World Cup in Perth, Varsity is getting amongst the action at all seven of its venues. The full line-up will show the 6pm and 9pm games, while the Joondalup, Waterford and Northbridge locations will also host the late-night games at 11pm, 12am and 3am. In addition, Varsity Northbridge will celebrate the FIFA final on December 18 with a laneway party and giant outdoor screen.

This World Cup, Subi’s front bar will become the hub for all things soccer. Bookings are recommended for the later games, especially when Australia takes to the field on November 23, 26 and 30.
