Derek Jeter confessed an honest truth about his career to comfort a struggling Eli Manning

Back in 2014, the then-New York Giants quarterback was struggling to get back in his form. Notably, the Giants had a poor start to their season with consecutive defeats in the NFL. And that is when Derek Jeter came with his perfect advice to cheer on a struggling Manning.

Per Kin Jones of NFL.com, when asked about Manning’s poor run, Jeter indirectly said he has seen worse. Notably, Manning’s poor performances in two games were nothing compared to Jeter’s hitting slump in 2004 and 2014.

While talking about Manning’s poor run, Jeter also made an honest admission. The Yankees legend said his career was over five years ago. But he did not give up and never stopped playing until he retired from the game in the 2014 season.

“Huh? What? C’mon, now,” Jeter, 40, said playfully in 2014. “My career was ‘over’ five years ago.”
