Now that the World Series is in full swing, it’s time to look at some MLB history.
No, we aren’t looking in the record books for something like this.
Instead, we’re taking a look at the last 16 World Series to see how many times the team with a player who stole the first base of the series, earning America free tacos from Taco Bell, went on to win.
Jared Carrabis of Barstool Sports created a list of players who stole the first base of the World Series since 2007, trying to determine if there is any correlation between a stolen base leading to free tacos and winning the World Series.
You’ll be surprised to see that there might actually be some correlation here.

Do Free Tacos Mean A World Series Ring?
Of course, there are a couple of years that need to be taken into account when there was no promotion from Taco Bell.
From 2009-2011, Taco Bell did not do a promotion.
They also did not have the promotion in 2013 and 2014.
But only twice this far has the team who had the first stolen base that won America free tacos lost since 2007.
Jason Bartlett stole first base for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008 and the Rays lost to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Francisco Lindor also did it in 2016 for the Cleveland Indians, who fell in seven games to the Chicago Cubs.
Every other time, there was either no promotion or the player who stole the first base was on the winning team.
Kyle Schwarber stole first base this series.
We’ll have to see if it ultimately translates into the Phillies winning it all.
