Gambia: Monty Mobile contracts partner for Comium’s digital transformation

(Ecofin Agency) – When it took over Comium Gambia, Monty Mobile committed to solving the operator’s financial and operational problems. It now wants to use the operator as the reference for its expansion in the growing African telecom market.

The British telecom company Monty Mobile recently signed a partnership agreement with Tecnotree to digitize the network and services of the Gambian mobile operator Comium Gambia. Under the agreement, Tecnotree will offer digital business support solutions (BSS) to help Monty Mobile achieve its ambitions in the Gambian telecom market.

Tecnotree’s BSS solution will be integrated into both Comium’s existing and future networks, we learn. It will be used for pricing, order management, product management, billing, fraud management, and customer relationship management. It will also be used for revenue assurance and business intelligence to ensure a real-time personalized and consistent experience.

The agreement comes about two weeks after Monty Mobile awarded Huawei the contract to upgrade Comium Gambia’s network “with groundbreaking products and solutions.” The investments are expected to make Comium a competitive operator in the Gambian telecom market to serve as a reference for Monty Mobile’s African expansion ambitions.

Monty Mobile officially took over Comium Gambia earlier this year after saving the company from bankruptcy in 2021. Among other things, the company committed to solving the financial and network issues that Comium Gambia was facing.

According to Marwan Khoury, COO, and Managing director of Monty Mobile Gambia, the partnership will enable Comium Gambia to offer its subscribers “lucrative products and services that are highly applicable and have significant differentiated value in addressing various verticals such as health, financials, sports, gaming, and many otherss.”
