With back-to-back losses on their record, the Detroit Red Wings will look to end their recent losing streak when they come back to Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night when they take on the Minnesota Wild.

After their respectable start to the season, the Red Wings have dropped a couple of one-sided affairs this week. They suffered their first regulation loss on Tuesday to the New Jersey Devils, and followed that up with getting hounded by the Boston Bruins, and the return of their star winger Brad Marchand. Adam Erne found the back of the net for the second time this season, but the B’s power play was exceptional with Marchand back in the lineup, sending the Wings to a 5-1 loss.
The loss should not come as a shocker, especially since Boston is now 7-1 to start the season. Consecutive losses always have the potential of hurting a team’s season, but it is too early for the “here we go again” conversations with the Red Wings.
However, it will not be easy for Detroit to get back into the win column on Saturday. Since the Wild started the new season by losing their first three games, the playoff contenders have not fallen in regulation since, winning three of their last four games, including wins over Atlantic Division foes in the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators. Stars like Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello have started to find their groove, helping Minnesota shake off its surprisingly poor start to the year.
The Wild grabbed both games over the Wings last season, winning a pair of high-scoring affairs including a 6-5 shootout win at LCA in March.
